Danbury Mint
Danbury Mint were founded in
1969 by Ted Stanley in Connecticut, USA; an office was opened in
London in 1976. Danbury sell fine collectables direct to customers
via magazine advertising, mailings and the internet.
In 1983 Danbury commissioned
the major porcelain companies around the world to each design and
produce a demitasse cup and saucer. The list included Rosenthal,
Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, Royal Worcester, Spode, Aynsley, Haviland
of Limoges and Noritake.
Danbury advertised the availability of the
collection to the general public under a promotion entitled 'Cups &
Saucers of the World's Great Porcelain Houses'. One cup and saucer
was issued each month to customers who had signed up to receive the
complete collection.
