Rosenthal Porcelain painted by Pickard China Company
Pickard China Company was
founded by Wilder Austin Pickard in 1894. Initially they were based
in Wisconsin USA but moved to Chicago USA in 1897.
Pickard imported 'blank'
porcelain from several of Europe's leading porcelain manufacturers
which included Rosenthal. The porcelain was hand-painted by artists
several of whom were from Europe. Various
Pickard marks were added at
different periods.
In 1941 Pickard China Company
moved to Antioch, Illinois USA which included a porcelain production
facility. (No doubt brought about by the war in Europe,
the disruption to supplies of 'blanks' and the ever increasing costs
of shipping.)
